“Not what to capture, but how to see.”

We need to let go of the visual habit of searching for specific subjects in photographs. To move away from subject-centered photography, we can intentionally create blurred images or capture unfocused backgrounds, offering a new way of viewing photographs. This aims to make the viewer feel the visual stimulus itself rather than simply trying to interpret the photograph.

Every moment in life gradually fades over time. I don’t reject that fading; I embrace it. In the memories where form disappears, only color and light remain, and through them, I see the fragments of time accumulated within me. The pain, joy, or even the numbness I’ve felt is revealed through these blurred images.

Sometimes, certain memories are too vivid to bear. In those moments, I deliberately blur the focus, because there are memories I don’t want to leave too clear. In the haze, I find a sense of safety.

Of course, I believe we must be cautious of distorting and overinterpreting our memories. However, when I live too cautiously, I find that I lack the space and ease to love myself fully. In the end, accepting the distortion and exaggeration of memory as part of my emotions may be the true path to finding peace.

Memory, by nature, is blurred and imperfect. Yet, within that imperfection, it is crucial to understand and love myself. In blurred images, traces of emotion and the texture of time are embedded. They don’t simply vanish but continue to breathe within me, becoming the essence of who I am.
